Our Aim

We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. ~ Colossians 1:28

The Lord has called our church to be a worshiping community of believers. In response to this, we have determined first to honor Jesus Christ by our commitment to His Lordship in our lives, but secondly to enjoy Him as our personal Best Friend - trusting that our lives will, in turn, be enjoyable to Him.

Our mission is to build people up in their spiritual lives so that they will be enabled to help others find the same joy and blessing of salvation through Jesus! This includes a willingness to serve others and to grow in relationships. We encourage you to open yourself to the Lord's ministry during your visit!

You are invited!

For those new to the church, we trust that you will find us to be a friendly congregation that is eager to help you feel welcome and wanted!

We offer a worship experience that seeks to bring the worshiper into an intimate experience with God through praise choruses and hymns, people's testimonies of God's working in their lives, prayer, and the teaching of practical truths from the Word of God.

Our Values

The Pursuit Of God
We are hungry to know God's presence, hear His voice and follow Him as Spirit-filled Christians.

Christ-likeness
We desire that Jesus' love, mercy, grace, truth, purity, power and integrity shine through all we do.

Discipleship
We aim to grow personally in the knowledge of Christ and to make disciples by calling others into those same practices.

Relationships
We work together to build the church through mutual respect, open communication, determined cooperation and believing and speaking the best about each other.

Shared Leadership
We believe that Christ has put leadership authority first of all in the hands of the pastor(s). Our pastor(s) seek to lead with humility, demonstrating a spirit of service rather than power.

Unity
We maintain oneness in the Body of Christ by valuing all believers as equals in Christ and by maintaining harmony with one another in Christian love.

For more specifics on what we believe, see our doctrine section.

Affiliations

We consider ourselves Christians first, Baptists second. God's Word claims our highest allegiance; it informs our thinking and is the standard to which we strive to adhere. But since we find ourselves in broad agreement with many like-minded believers in the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC), we maintain a voluntary association with that group with a view toward more effective ministry.

Closer to home, we participate in Baptist Network Northwest and support the ministries of Northwest Baptist Home Mission, among others.

Columbia Heights was established in 1998 as a result of a church planting ministry of the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism.
